ANL’s revised dates due to collision

The ANL Geelong V094N/095S was involved in a collision with a ferry (MV Su Zhou Hao) while departing Shanghai on 2nd October while under pilotage.

No injuries or fatalities have been reported on either vessel and there is no cargo damage expected with only minor damages to the vessel itself.

Due to the incident, consequent surveys and clearance from Port Authority, the vessel has departed Shanghai 2 days later than initially scheduled.

Cargo ships’ collision off Corsica

Two cargo ships have collided off the island of Corsica, with authorities fearing a catastrophic oil spill in the idyllic Mediterranean region. A Tunisian roll-on/roll-off ferry, the Ulysses, collided with the Cypriot registered container ship, the CLS Virginia.

Container ship, ferry collide near Corsica

The container ship ‘CSL Virginia’ collided with the ferry ‘Ulysse’ near Corsica on Sunday, October 7. Both ships sustained damages, while no injuries have been reported.

At the time of the accident, ‘CSL Virginia’ was anchored north of Cap Corse, northern Corsica peninsula, when it was struck by ‘Ulysse’, which was heading from Genoa Italy to Tunis Tunisia.

Boatie who collided with ferry ordered to community service

An Auckland recreational boatie, Grant Reginald McCutcheon, has been ordered to complete 120 hours community service after his boat collided with a Fullers Group ferry on the Waitemata Harbour.

Maritime NZ charged Mr. McCutcheon with acting dangerously by not keeping a proper look-out. Mr McCutcheon pleaded guilty.

Judge Singh said a fine of $4,300, would have been appropriate. However, Judge Singh then acknowledged Mr McCutcheon is an undischarged bankrupt and would be unable to pay a fine.
